news - 28/2/10 Finally took the plunge into Twitterville, tsk tsk.. tweet! news - 20/2/10 Uploaded a whole range of new stuff on coroflot this morning including a 'slightly' satirical print design project inspired by my unrelenting joblessness. news - 18/2/10 I've been playing with Photoshop rather than looking for work this afternoon. I have come out with the first style concept for my new project however - see left! news - 8/2/10 I've broken through the wall of boredom unemployment has built around me and spent the morning creating cheesy .GIFs of the X-Flow in operation. This should help those who can't picture it's operation. Oh, and I finally got that damned favicon to work - check your tab/search bar, pretty! news - 27/1/10 I am now LinkedIn and very proud to be so! Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any possibilities.

news - 19/10/09 Review: SketchBook from Autodesk (iphone app) Rating: 8/10 I've not been able to put my phone down since buying it, and for such a small amount! I've avoided calls and delayed texting back for hours through trying to nail those highlights. SketchBook allows you to create pencil, brush, airbrush and stippled artwork on your iphone as well as creating your own custome brushes and colours. With a swipe of your finger you will be left in awe at the accuracy and fidelity of the mark you left. You can also create upto three layers enabling you to have linework, fill and background all separate: very handy! The only problem I have with the app itself is not really a problem at all; you need to remember that where your finger appears to be on is not where your tip actually contacts the screen. Until you get used to this all you have to do is 'undo' by double tapping the screen corner and try again until you get it perfect. This is very similar to the way you would work with a tablet anyway so nothing new there! We could also do with a few extra layers but its just a case of being clever and planning how you're going to use the three you have. If there was a decent, slim tipped stylus for the iphone, this app could prove a priceless (and paperless) companion to the commuting designer or artist. I'd recommend sketchers on the go to get this app no question. As everyone who knows me can vouch, I always sketch "bloody cubes" and heres my first attempt at ID style sketching on the app... click thumbnail © copyright O. Sparrow 2009 |
